New Home

So, lately I’ve been a little MIA. My blog posts have been non-existent and my Facebook posts minimal. For this, I apologize!

My husband and I are moving into a new house, and we’ve decided to renovate it first. And by renovate, I mean paint the entire interior of the house. Turns out, it takes much longer than you’d expect! Thank goodness for Karma who’s been here to take care of you while I’ve been covered in paint.

I’ve enjoyed the whole process, to an extent, because it’s ours. We get to keep it when we’re done, and I get to decorate it any way I desire. However, with this highly anticipated freedom comes anxiety over all the choices that seem so important to the end result! As you can see, I had a little trouble picking the paint color for the main floor:

I did finally, to my husband’s content, pick a wall color. Vanilla Brandy. Mmmm. Maybe it’s just because I like the name so much. Or maybe that I was just tired of painting squares of random colors on my wall. For the other rooms in the house I got more creative and opted for unique colors such as Celery Sticks, Slate Blue, and Cement Gray.

Alas, after two weeks that included many 12 hour days, Starbucks, delivery pizza, and sore muscles, most walls are painted. It dawned on me, during one of my moments of daydreaming while painting, that I love the immediate gratification of painting. One minute it’s blah, the next it’s beautiful. The same goes for why I love waxing. One minute there is hair, the next it’s gone!

Although exciting to see the improvements happen before my eyes, many nights I felt much like Tiger, this kitty I saw up for adoption at Petland (available through the Human Society):

This week we move onto trim, doors and baseboards. I’ll share some “Before & After” photos once we’re all complete. Complete. That sounds like a wonderful word right now. We’re hoping to be finished painting in another week’s time so we can start the move! Wish us luck!

Best,

Jessica
